CAST
has been awarded a second year grant of $10,000 by the Anniston
Community Education Foundation for
FREE
performing arts education for the CAST Kool Kids. The grant, which
was presented at a luncheon on October 29th, 2009, will run for one year
beginning November 1, 2009.
The course of instruction
for these youngsters includes all aspects of theatre both on the stage
and house operations. History and evolution of theatre in various
cultures are also part of the curriculum.
They learn performance
skills such as music, acting, choreography, voice, stage presence and projection.
Most importantly, the students will develop necessary life skills of responsibility,
accountability, teamwork and self-discipline. They will be performing in
public throughout the year.
The FREE class
is limited to 15 students, age 4-19, and classes are held every week at
Carver Community Center, 720 W. 14th St, Anniston, AL. Three
openings exist for new students and auditions are ongoing.
